Predicting the Ohio State football team's depth chart
By Ryan Stano
Offensively, things are a little different for the Ohio State football team. The offensive line is the biggest question mark. It's hard to know what the best combination is right now. We do know that the Buckeyes will have the best combination of skill guys on the outside to throw the ball to.
As we list the depth chart on offense, we start with the guy who will likely be slinging the ball around.
QB: Will Howard
RB: TreVeyon Henderson
LT: Josh Simmons
LG: Donovan Jackson
C: Seth McLaughlin
RG: Carson Hinzman
RT: Josh Fryar
TE: Gee Scott Jr.
WR: Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate, Jeremiah Smith
I think this is the most likely offensive line combination, even if I don't think it's the best. Personally, I'd prefer Luke Montgomery at right tackle instead of Fryar. That doesn't seem to be happening after Ryan Day mentioned just how good of an offseason Fryar has had.
Henderson is the starter at running back, but Quinshon Judkins is going to see a lot of snaps too. I wouldn't be shocked if they split the carries 50/50. Judkins was brought in to lighten the load on Henderson, who has only finished one collegiate season healthy.
Tight end is also a spot where there isn't a solidified starter returning. Gee Scott has been in the program the longest, so he should get the spot over Will Kacmarek, although the transfer from Ohio University didn't come to the Buckeyes to sit the bench.
As for the specialists, it should be Anthony Venneri at punter and Jayden Fielding as the placekicker. Hopefully, the Ohio State football team won't need to use either of them too much because Will Howard will be throwing touchdown passes.
