After Chris Holtmann was fired by the Ohio State basketball program last week, there have been some big names that have been linked to potentially getting the job at the end of their respective seasons. However, these are the people who I want to steer clear of for the job. Whether it's personal preference or not enough experience in my opinion, here are the reasons why.

Sean Miller

Miller is currently in his second stint as the Xavier Musketeers coach. Throughout his career, he has been with Xavier twice and Arizona between his stints in Cincinnati. He has compiled a record of 455-172, including four Elite Eight appearances, along with 4 more Sweet 16 appearances, including last year with Xavier.

He is a proven winner, but he still carries a Bruce Pearl-like stigma around him because of allegations at Arizona for potentially paying athletes. This is a guy that Buckeye fans used to make fun of because of being so sweaty on the sidelines and for wrongdoing, and now people are clamoring for him to be the next head coach. I think they should steer clear of him.

Lamont Paris

Paris is currently the head coach at South Carolina. The Findlay native has caught lightning in a bottle this year, where they are currently 21-5 and ranked at #21 in the country. They have had some amazing wins for the program this year, including wins against Kentucky and at Tennessee.

However, they lost to Auburn by 40 and lost to LSU since Holtmann's firing. Paris is a good coach, but this is his first real breakout season. Could it be a one-year thing, or is he truly a program builder? I don't think Ohio State should be the one to find out.

Chris Jent

A former Ohio State basketball great who wants to be the next head coach. Where have we heard this before? I understand he would be a relatively nice hire and the alumni base would like it. However, he has ZERO head coaching experience and most of his assistant coaching has been in the NBA.

Indiana fans complain about Mike Woodson because he has an NBA-style approach with losses, but there aren't enough games in the college season to make up for losses. The Buckeyes need someone with real college coaching experience. It is also proven that most alumni coming back to their university to coach do not work (Juwan Howard, Woodson, etc).
