Eight practices into spring, the most likely starter for QB gets to officially become an Ohio State football player. Will Howard so far has to compete with Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz who both didn't get a whole lot of action on the field last season, and Julian Sayin and Air Noland, two freshmen who are top prospects.

Will Howard at Kansas St. completed 58.8% of his passes for 5,786 yards and 48 touchdowns with 25 interceptions while also rushing for 921 yards and 19 touchdowns in four years. Those 19 rushing touchdowns show that he is a dual-threat and he will be a change from the past two quarterbacks, who were more of pocket passers.

Also with the stacked backfield they have with Quinshon Judkins, who led the SEC in rushing, and TreVeyon Henderson, it should be interesting how Chip Kelly with set up this offense. There are weapons at every skill position.

After Howard threw at Ohio State's Pro Day about a week ago, reporters asked him about how things at Spring practice are going, this is what he replied with.

""Some of the routes that we run are a little different. The timing is a little different, obviously. I’m honestly still getting used to the speed of the guys here, but I think I’m adjusting well. I felt like in Week 1, before Spring Break, like practice one, I was feeling my way through it. Then, in practice two, I felt so much more comfortable. I think every day it’s going to be more like that.""

Will Howard

Some people over the media have said that Devin Brown looked like he might be making a case for the starting job so far during Spring. Others have said Julian Sayin has looked like the most accurate passer. While that might be true now, it won't be for long. It's just taking Howard a bit of time to get used to the change in environment.

In addition to Will Howard losing his black stripe, one of his offensive linemen, Seth McLaughlin transfer from Alabama, lost his today also.
