The Ohio State football program keeps losing players to the transfer portal as three more have entered. Wide receivers Noah Rogers, Bryson Rodgers, and punter Jesse Mirco have all left the program following Ohio State's defeat in the Cotton Bowl on Friday.

Of the three players, Noah Rodgers will be the player most missed. As a true freshman, he showed great promise in the Spring as a five-star recruit coming into the program. He had a great Spring game and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline praised him for his abilities and work ethic. He played 14 offensive snaps this season without recording a catch.

Maybe he and Bryson Rogers saw the writing on the wall, however, as fellow freshmen Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss clearly passed them by on the depth chart. With Tate and Inniss in the mix, the possibility of Emeka Egbuka returning, and incoming five-star freshmen Mylan Graham and Jeremiah Smith joining the team this Spring, playing time might have been tough to get for the two players.

Punter Jesse Mirco was a surprise portal entry. The Australian-born rugby-style punter averaged 44.0 yards per punt over his three seasons in Columbus. His departure leaves Joe McGuire as the only punter on Ohio State's roster.

These probably won't be the last three to join the portal, however. There have been rumblings that others may join, including backup defensive end Kenyatta Jackson, who took to X to let everybody know that he's pondering his future, before he made his account private.

Hopefully, we start getting some good news about the transfer portal soon instead of bad. Ohio State grabbed a tight end from Ohio, and we hope that there's more to come as these upcoming winter months play out. They surely need to find a quarterback to at least compete with the room this Spring and help push Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz, and Air Noland.
