Ohio State football team gets four-star DL recruit to keep top-ranked class going
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program has the top-ranked recruiting class in 2025. The Buckeyes have been killing it on the recruiting trail lately. In the last week alone they have landed four recruits. That stemmed from a massive recruiting weekend that happened last week.
Now, Ohio State has grabbed another big-time recruit. The Buckeyes were able to get four-star defensive lineman Trajen Odom. Odom chose the Buckeyes over Oregon, USC, and Georgia. He becomes the 21st member of the Ohio State football team's 2025 class.
Odom is from Matthews, North Carolina, and stands at 6'4 and 285 pounds. He's a good player who can play inside or outside on the defensive line. Odom uses his hands very well and has the speed to close in on the quarterback. He's good at stopping the run too.
Odom was not part of the giant visit group last weekend. Instead, he was visiting USC. He clearly thought that USC was not the place he was meant to be and chose Ohio State instead. Larry Johnson is having a bounceback recruiting class this year after only landing one impact guy last year.
Ohio State now is running out of spots for their class. 21 recruits make this class pretty full with some big fish still left for the Buckeyes to get. It's unclear how many recruits the Buckeyes are going to take in this class. They could take as many as 27 recruits or could cap it at 25.
Either way, a recruiting class that was already the best in the country just got even stronger. Ohio State is on its way to having the best recruiting class in school history. They could end up winning their first recruiting national championship in history.
Recruiting championships aren't the same as actual championships. Once these recruits get on campus, it's up to the coaches to get the most out of them so they can keep winning games to win actual championships.
