The Ohio State football program was made famous thanks to legendary coach Woody Hayes. Hayes is still the most iconic coach in the program's history. He won five national championships for the Buckeyes and helped build the program into one with a history of tradition.

Woody is the standard to which all Ohio State football coaches have been measured since he was let go in 1978. He was a great ambassador for the university and loved everything Ohio State stood for. He famously hated Michigan more than anything on the planet.

The guys who played for Hayes absolutely loved him and his wife, Anne. Both did great things for the city of Columbus and the university at large. Now, those former players have created a national scholarship fund in the names of Woody and Anne Hayes.

The scholarship is an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship given to one member of the National Football Federation's National Scholar-Athlete Class every year. It's a great scholarship to give and it's really nice of former players to pay to have this scholarship created.

This is a great way to honor Coach Hayes. He is still beloved by everyone involved with the Ohio State football program. Even people who weren't born when Hayes was still coaching the team revere him and understand what he did for the Buckeyes both on and off the field.

It'll be interesting to see who gets awarded this scholarship first. Personally, I think it would be cool to see it go to someone from Ohio State. That would make it a full-circle moment.
