Ohio State has one of the most storied and successful programs in all of college football. They have been contenders for decades and have seemingly always had a good head coach at the helm of the ship.

Throughout their history, the Ohio State football team has had a total of twenty-five head coaches since they were established in 1890. Over those 130 years, the Buckeyes have accumulated a record of 931-327-53. This is the best winning percentage of any program in college football at 73%.

Some of the best coaches of all time have spent time as an assistant coach, offensive/defensive coordinator, or positional coach for the Buckeyes. However, today will be focused on just the head coaches throughout Buckeye history.

It is possible that the Buckeyes’ current head coach, Ryan Day could work his way onto the list if he continues the early success. Day has made the College Football Playoff in each of his first two years in the head coaching position. Along with this, he has brought in what is projected to be some of the best recruiting classes of all time. Landing multiple five-star recruits for the class of 2021 and 2022.

However, as of now, he still has not been able to achieve the end goal of any season at Ohio State. Which is bringing home a National Championship to Columbus.

Things like recruiting, winning percentage, bowl wins, bowl appearances, national championships, national championship appearances, and overall impact on the Ohio State football program will all be taken into account when ranking the best of the best the Buckeyes have to offer.
