Ohio State Football: Offensive problems begin with Justin Frye

The Ohio State football team took a beating last week in the Cotton Bowl with the offensive line looking awful. Justin Frye needs to be held accountable.

The Ohio State football program is in need of a major shake-up. Following the lackluster effort on Friday night in the Cotton Bowl, the Buckeyes need to get back to the basics on offense and that starts with the offensive line.

Plain and simple, they are not good, and that's extremely disappointing given the fact that we were all sold a bill of goods upon Ryan Day's hire of offensive line coach Justin Frye just two years ago. Frye was supposed to come in and fix the line woes both schematically and on the recruiting trail. And as to date, neither has been accomplished.

Friday night was the worst Buckeye offensive line performance that I've ever seen. Neither Devin Brown nor Lincoln Kienholz had a chance. The tackle situation is a complete mess and has been for over a year now and even the veterans that you thought could be counted on, Donovan Jackson and Matthew Jones, have both regressed as players in their time with Justin Frye coaching them.

Frye has been a mess recruiting. Ian Moore is a nice player for the 2024 recruiting class but he's the best player Frye has signed in two classes. He sits as the No. 131 player in the class according to 247 Sports. I'm sorry but that is not good enough for Ohio State to not get any top 100 linemen in two straight classes.

Ryan Day needs to admit defeat and part ways. Bring in an experienced coach with a proven track record on the recruiting trailLast month I pounded the table to bring in former Buckeye grad assistant, Joe Rudolph, who is currently doing great thing at Notre Dame. Give him a raise and get him to Columbus ASAP.

Expect coaching staff changes soon. Expect coaching staff changes soon. dark. Next

But something needs to be done. The Ohio State football team will not get to the College Football Playoffs next season or beat Michigan with its current offensive line play. Ryan Day needs to act now.
