The Ohio State football team and defensive line coach Larry Johnson capped off the 2024 recruiting class with a local product over the weekend. Painesville-Riverside defensive end and four-star recruit Dominic Kirks committed to the Buckeyes.

Kirks was a much-needed addition to the class, as Ohio State only had two defensive linemen signed for the recruiting cycle. Kirks brings a big body, standing at 6-5 and weighing 255 pounds to the room. He is projected to be a strong-side defensive end, but it has also not been ruled out that his size could make him a future three-technique one day. But we are a long way off from that.

The addition of Kirks also means a bump up in the overall recruiting ranking for Ohio State. The Buckeyes were the number five overall class according to 247Sports, but the addition of Kirks jumped them up to number three.

Kirks, a former Washington commit who did not sign during the early signing period, de-committed from the Husky program when Kalen DeBoer left as head coach to take over the Alabama program. Kirks had not received an offer from Ohio State until last week because Ryan Day doesn't like to offer kids who are already committed elsewhere. But once Kirks took an official visit to Columbus last week, he knew it was where he was meant to be.

Julian Sayin, the top 2024 quarterback in the class, entered the transfer portal following Nick Saban's departure. Now, he's officially a member of the Ohio State football program. He joins a quarterback room that is refashioned and will be extremely talented.

Sayin now joins Air Noland as quarterbacks from the 2024 class with the Buckeyes. Neither one of them will start in 2024, but it will be an interesting battle for the 2025 job. This likely signals that one or both of Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz will transfer out.

dark. Next. Pulling Proctor will be tough for the Buckeyes. Pulling Proctor will be tough for the Buckeyes

Things have been great for the Buckeyes lately. Hopefully, things continue to go that way.
