Ohio State football: Jim Harbaugh is delusional in his demands
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team almost destroyed Jim Harbaugh. Going into the 2021 season, Harbaugh had yet to beat the Buckeyes despite going against two different coaches. Michigan fans wanted him gone and 2021 was likely going to be his last chance to save his job.
He then led TTUN to a victory over the Ohio State football program and has done so now for three straight years. He now has a national title, although that could still get vacated in the wake of the cheating scandal that saw him suspended for the last three games of the regular season. That's different from the suspension he served in the first three games of the year.
Harbaugh continues to be delusional in his thinking of his contract and the NCAA Infractions Committee. He is apparently trying to negotiate a contract with TTUN that will grant him immunity from being fired if he is found at fault for any NCAA violations moving forward.
That's an insane demand! Saying that if your program, that you lead, gets found in violation of rules that could set the program back years, you're not going to lose your job over it? That's delusional. What's more delusional is he is demanding this while he has taken two interviews with NFL teams so far.
There's a reason that TTUN hasn't given Harbaugh his extension yet. Harbaugh wants to be safe from a punishment that he deserves to get after breaking the rules and Michigan isn't willing to do that. Harbaugh also is desperate to get back into the NFL. TTUN isn't going to invest a lot of money in someone who isn't fully committed to their program for the long haul.
I'm interested to see how this all unfolds. I tend to think that he will end up with an NFL job and TTUN will end up promoting Sherrone Moore to be the head coach.
