Ohio State football gets a big announcement from J.T. Tuimoloau
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program has a lot of players returning for the 2024 season. Most of their secondary is back, a key receiver is back, and a key offensive lineman is back too. Now the best player on their defensive line has decided to return as well.
J.T. Tuimoloau has decided to return for his senior season. He will return to an Ohio State football team that will be bringing back most of their defense, save the linebackers. It's a defense that was in the top five in every major category and should be even better next year.
Tuimoloau was projected to be a borderline first-round pick for the 2024 NFL Draft. Instead, he has decided to run it back with his teammates. JTT had 5 sacks last season, which was a career-high for him. He has completely wrecked both Iowa and Penn State in his career too.
Bringing JTT back is huge for the Buckeyes. They now have a really good defense that is coming back next year and should be even stingier. That's good because the Big Ten gets a lot tougher with the addition of the four West Coast teams, including a team that just played for a national title.
There is just one player left that the Buckeyes are waiting on to make a decision for next season. That is running back TreVeyon Henderson. He has until Monday to make a decision, but I would expect it sometime this weekend. With everyone else coming back, it's hard to imagine him leaving now.
Ryan Day doesn't have an excuse to fail next season. He has his defense back, a quarterback from the portal, and great skill positions. If he can't beat TTUN with this team next year, he just can't beat them. I really like the construction of this team though.
