Ohio State football coach proves he can't recruit

One prominent Ohio State football coach has proven that he can't recruit after losing out on a five-star recruit.

The Ohio State football program has a great set of coaches. Most of the guys on staff have accomplished great things not just at Ohio State, but elsewhere around the country. Ryan Day has assembled the best set of staffers since he's been the head coach.

Chip Kelly was the most notable addition to the Buckeyes' coaching staff in quite a while. His knowledge of offensive football and how to run the ball is going to be great for them. Despite all of the great coaches the Buckeyes have, there is still one dud on staff.

That dud is Justin Frye. He headed the worst unit on the team last year. That unit folded in the biggest game of the season against Michigan and is the primary reason why they lost that game. Frye also now has confirmed that he can't recruit well enough either.

Justin Frye proves he can't recruit for the Ohio State football team

One of the biggest recruits left for the Ohio State Buckeyes to grab is David Sanders Jr. He's a five-star offensive lineman and someone the Buckeyes have been trying to land for a while. He would be the first five-star offensive lineman the Buckeyes would have since Donovan Jackson and the first five-star recruit Frye would have grabbed.

Instead, it looks like Frye is going to lose him to Tennessee. He has been the coach at Ohio State for two-plus years and has yet to land a blue-chip recruit. The best members on the offensive line were recruited by the offensive line coach before him, Greg Studrawa.

Frye can't recruit. He has yet to prove that he can galvanize the offensive line to be a unit that is counted on. Those two things equal a change that needs to be made. I'd be surprised if Frye was still on staff this time next year unless the offensive line has an unreal season.

Frye's had his chances. He just hasn't done anything with them.
