The Ohio State football team could add more depth to the defensive line on Thursday if things go well.

The Ohio State football program holds a slim lead for the best recruiting class in the country for the 2025 class. They are ahead of Alabama by only three points. They have one more commit than the Tide do. Quite frankly, it's surprising that Alabama has been able to recruit this well despite Nick Saban retiring.

Regardless, the Buckeyes have had the best class for most of the year. They have 23 commits for the class and they aren't done adding recruits yet either. While August will be an important month, they still have a couple of prospects who are making up their minds in July.

One of those prospects is a four-star defensive tackle Jarquez Carter. Carter is from Newberry, Florida, and stands at 6'2 and 284 pounds. He will be making his college decision on Thursday evening from his final five schools. Ohio State feels good about their shot to land him.

The odds that the Ohio State football team can land Jarquez Carter

Carter has five schools that he is choosing between. Besides the Buckeyes, he also has Penn State, UCF, Florida, and Miami on his list. He is projected to pick Ohio State right now, so that has them feeling good about landing yet another defensive lineman in this class.

The Ohio State football team has five defensive linemen in this class right now. Adding Carter would give them a sixth. It's good that they have this many defensive linemen because they only signed three in last year's class. They needed to replenish the depth they missed out on last season.

Ohio State loves to have depth on the defensive line and has historically rotated the line a bunch. They didn't do that as much last season though, and I don't expect them to do it this season either. Still, it would be nice to have the option to do so if they want to.

The Buckeyes are far from done on the recruiting trail.
