Ohio State basketball team offers former NBA All-Star's son a scholarship
By Ryan Stano
Jake Diebler is trying to show that he can recruit as the head coach of the Ohio State basketball program. He's done a good job of coaching the actual basketball on the court so far. He did land a five-star recruit for the 2026 class but hasn't landed any commitments for 2025 yet.
That's where Diebler's focus now lies. He's locked in on the recruiting trail now that his coaching staff is completely settled. Chris Holtmann was a pretty good recruiter but couldn't coach on the court. Diebler wants to have the best of both world and just offered a really solid prospect.
Kiyan Anthony, who is the son of former NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony, was offered a scholarship by Diebler recently. Anthony is a four-star shooting guard out of the state of New York and is currently listed as a four-star recruit. He's listed as the top shooting guard in the state of New York.
Recently, Anthony mentioned that he was eyeing a visit to Columbus to check out the Ohio State basketball program. He would be a great player for Diebler to land for the 2025 class. He's a tall guard that has a good handle and is a dynamic scorer just like his dad was.
If Anthony does schedule a visit to Ohio State, it will be up to them to ace the visit in order to get him more interested. He's going to be linked to Syracuse for his entire recruitment because that's where his dad went. Even so, Melo is letting his son make his own decisions.
How well the Buckeyes start out this season is going to be a big factor in whether or not they end up having a shot to land Anthony. A good start would be a big help for the Buckeyes.
