Ohio State basketball team fills final roster spot with an experienced guard
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball program has been sitting at 14 players for quite a while. They haven't made a move in the transfer portal since adding Micah Parrish. There really wasn't an indication on when the Buckeyes were going to add a 15th player either despite Jake Diebler being asked about it.
It became even more of a problem when Taison Chatman was lost for the season. Now, the Buckeyes were down two players. Even adding someone who likely won't play was necessary in case the team had a rash of injuries. They accomplished that goal on Monday.
The Buckeyes announced on Monday that they have added Ques Glover from the transfer portal. Glover is a guard who has been well-traveled in college basketball. Ohio State will be his fifth different program that he has made a stop at. Glover has previously been at Samford, Florida, BYU, and Kansas State.
What Ques Glover can give the Ohio State basketball team this season
While Glover has been at four other programs, he missed the entirety of last season due to a knee injury. He never played a single game for Kansas State. He's had issues staying healthy his entire career. In fact, he has never played 30 games in a single season.
Still, Glover is talented when he is healthy enough to be out there. He averaged 14.7 points per game in the 19 games he played in the 2022-23 season. He can score and handle the ball well, which is something the Buckeyes do need. Glover still needs to get that knee fully healthy though.
Will Glover play a lot if he's healthy? Probably not. He comes into a situation with a pretty stacked backcourt. He will likely get steady playing time if someone else gets hurt. Bruce Thornton and Meechie Johnson are obviously the starters. Evan Mahaffey returns too. Freshman Juni Mobley is going to get time and so will Parrish.
That doesn't leave a lot of room for Glover. He's more of a "break glass in case of emergency" guy. That's perfectly fine for a young team.
