The NFL season starts in just over a month. It starts later than the college football season. There are some former Ohio State football players who are getting ready for the year and have already played some preseason games. This should help them tune-up for the regular season.

Two former Buckeyes actually played each other on Friday night. In fact, they are two former Ohio State quarterbacks. Justin Fields got the start for the Steelers as he took on C.J. Stroud and the Texans. Fields is fighting for a starting job while Stroud is already one of the young stars in the league.

So how did these former Ohio State Buckeyes do against each other? Since it was just the first preseason game they only played in the first quarter. In fact, Stroud just played a couple of series because he did what he needed to do early on.

Stroud was 2/4 for 41 yards and a touchdown. He diced up the Steelers' defense early and had a very nice touchdown pass in the first quarter. That touchdown pass was actually the only one for the Texans as none of the other quarterbacks who played for them threw a touchdown.

As far as Fields is concerned, he finished 5/6 for 67 yards. A lot of his throws were underneath and he didn't take any shots down the field. He also ran three times for just two yards. He didn't lead the Steelers to a touchdown when he was out on the field either, which isn't ideal.

It was cool to see two former Ohio State Buckeyes go at each other, even if it was during preseason. Stroud looks like he's in midseason form. Fields needs some more work if he's going to secure the starting job over Russell Wilson.
