The Ohio State football program has a long history of producing great running backs. Eddie George, Archie Griffin, and Ezekiel Elliott are just some of the great backs that the Buckeyes have had. Two of those backs won a Heisman trophy and Elliott won a national championship.

Another recent back to be great for the Buckeyes was J.K. Dobbins. Dobbins was an animal with the Ohio State Buckeyes, rushing for over 2,000 yards in his final season. He was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens and was expected to do great things.

Unfortunately, injuries have completely derailed his career. Dobbins looked good in his rookie year, rushing for 805 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games. Then he tore his ACL in the preseason of 2021, taking him out for that season. In 2022, he blew out his knee again after just seven games. In 2023, he tore his Achilles in Week 1.

Dobbins is now with the Los Angeles Chargers after the Ravens released him. He's still just 25 years old and doesn't have a lot of miles on him. He can still be an effective back. That's exactly what he's done in his first two games with the Chargers, rushing for 266 yards.

That rushing total leads the NFL through two weeks. Jim Harbaugh of Michigan cheating fame has helped Dobbins become the elite back he was always supposed to be. The Chargers are a run-first team under Harbaugh and Dobbins is the lead back getting the bulk of the carries.

Of course, Dobbins has to prove he can stay healthy throughout an entire season. That's been his issue since coming into the league. If he can stay healthy, he has a really good shot to lead the league in rushing at the end of the season too.
