The Ohio State football program does a phenomenal job of producing pro players. They are one of the best programs in the country in terms of pro prospects. You can look at almost every team in the league and find a Buckeye on the roster. Most of those guys are impact players too.

C.J. Stroud is already an impact player for the Houston Texans. He was the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was taken behind Bryce Young and showed everyone in the league that was the wrong decision. Stroud clearly should have been the number-one pick.

Stroud ended up being the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and led Houston to the playoffs. He eviscerated the Browns in the Wild Card game, so he already has a playoff win under his belt. NFL oddsmakers love his potential to do great things in his second season.

Former Ohio State football player C.J. Stroud has the second-best odds for MVP

Despite it only being his second season, oddsmakers think he can be an MVP. In fact, Stroud has the second-best MVP odds according to FanDuel. He has +800 odds and sits only behind Patrick Mahomes for the award before the season starts. Mahomes' odds are +500.

Stroud was amazing in his rookie year, but this seems like a bit much. He does have a great weapon in Stefon Diggs now and the offensive line is healthy, but that seems like too high of expectations to put on him at this stage in his career. He very well could win an MVP at some point, but not this early.

The Texans love him and have a shot to win every game because he's leading the team. Stroud has bucked the trend of bad Ohio State NFL quarterbacks. He's certainly a recruiting tool that the Ohio State Buckeyes will use to further their program.
