Former Ohio State football coach calls current roster "best it's been in a decade"
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has one of the best rosters in the country. It's the reason why they are the second-ranked team in the country in both polls. A nasty defense combined with an explosive offense could mean big trouble for all of the opponents on the Buckeyes' schedule.
Ryan Day is under an enormous amount of pressure to win with this roster. If he doesn't, he could be looking for another job by the time the season is over. Somehow, the pressure he's under has gone up another level after a former Buckeye coach praised his roster.
Former Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer preceded Day and won a national championship with the Buckeyes. He also underachieved with some rosters but has that natty that Day doesn't. He called this year's team "perhaps the best roster in college football in a decade".

When Meyer makes a statement like that, all it does is turn up the heat on Day. If he can't win big with this roster, Ross Bjork will go find someone else who can. If Day fails to beat Michigan this year, you can bet your butt that Day won't be back roaming the sidelines next year.
Check out the clip from Meyer below.
Meyer knows the importance of winning at Ohio State. He was able to do it big and early in his tenure. Day has been the coach for five full seasons and has just two Big Ten Championships to his credit and a 1-3 record against Michigan. That's not going to get it done.
Day will try to block out the noise the best that he can, but he's going to hear some of it. If this team is truly that great, there is no reason they shouldn't be playing for a national title at the end of the year.
