The Ohio State football team started out the season as the second-ranked team in the country. Nothing they did in Week 1 is going to change that. They were one of the top teams in the country that looked good in their opening game. You couldn't say that about everyone.

Ohio State is the favorite to win the automatic bid from the Big Ten in the College Football Playoff. It won't be as easy as initially thought though. In Week 1, the Big Ten went 17-1. Only Minnesota got a loss. Everyone else did enough to get a victory in the first full weekend of college football.

A couple of Big Ten teams were able to improve their position in the College Football Playoff conversation. USC had the biggest win of any Big Ten team with their neutral-site victory over LSU. Is that enough to put them in the CFP in this week's prediction?

The Trojan's big win was good enough to get them into the CFP picture this week. In that first game, it looks like they fixed their defense. If they play defense like they did against LSU, they can be a real threat in the Big Ten in their first year in the conference.

Miami is the other team that made a big jump. Clemson looked terrible against Georgia. They couldn't even muster a touchdown against them. They won't win the ACC or get an at-large bid playing offense like that. Florida State ejected themselves after two straight losses to start the year.

The Hurricanes looked great in their first game of the season against Florida. Cam Ward looks to have solved their quarterback woes. Another ACC team is close to breaking through though. Keep an eye on Louisville. They have a real shot to win that conference, which would actually be good for the ACC.

If Louisville wins the conference, Miami could get a second bid for the ACC. That's probably the most teams they can get in at this point.
