The Ohio State football team hasn't played a game yet in the new college football season. That first game comes next week against Akron. They should have no problems with that game and are already massive favorites. They are also one of the favorites to win the national championship.

After Week 0, the Buckeyes have already gotten some help when it comes to making the College Football Playoff. They still sit as the second-ranked team in the country and are the favorites to win the Big Ten. Winning the conference gives them an automatic berth, but getting help for a potential at-large bid is never bad.

That's exactly what the Buckeyes got. Florida State was the tenth-ranked team in the country and will certainly fall outside the rankings after losing to Georgia Tech in Dublin. That also changes my prediction of what the 12-team Playoff team will be.

Florida State drops out entirely after their embarrassing loss. Based on what I saw from that team in Dublin, they might lose four games this year. There are other ACC teams who are way better. Now, only one ACC team gets in. I think Miami has a shot to get up there, but not right now.

Michigan is the beneficiary of the Seminoles losing in Week 0. They have a brutal schedule, so it might not last long. I still think they have enough talent that they could possibly get in as a three-loss team because of their strength of schedule. They would need help from other teams in that scenario though.

As far as the Buckeyes are concerned, they got a little bit of help. They aren't interested in help from other teams though. They just need to win the Big Ten and they get in, no questions asked.
