The Ohio State football team came into the game against Oregon as a favorite. Everything they'd done up to that game made it seem like they were an elite football team. The defense was at the top of every stat. The offense didn't look like it could be stopped.

Instead, the defense folded like a lawn chair. The Buckeyes lost to Oregon 32-31 thanks to a supremely horrible effort from the defense. From a unit that was supposed to be the best in the country, they played extremely poorly, specifically in pass coverage.

Denzel Burke was particularly terrible. He got beat multiple times in one-on-one coverage and could not stop the Ducks from beating him deep. It was by far the worst effort from the Ohio State Buckeyes this season. Burke didn't deserve to play in the second half, quite frankly.

Ohio State's supposed elite defense gave up a whopping 496 yards of offense. They clearly were not ready for this game. Despite watching Dillon Gabriel throw two interceptions in the end zone, they couldn't force him into a single turnover. It was embarrassing from that unit.

The defensive line was awful too. They didn't get a single sack in the game, and they couldn't put pressure on Gabriel throughout the game. It's clear the defensive line has issues getting pressure on the quarterback because this isn't the first time that this has happened.

Will Howard isn't absolved from this loss either. On the final play of the game, Howard didn't get down fast enough to allow Ohio State a chance at a game-winning field goal. As a senior quarterback, he can't make a mistake like that. Ohio State brought him in to be aware in those kinds of scenarios.

Instead, the Ohio State Buckeyes go home losers. It's an extremely disappointing result.
