The Ohio State football team was led by Julian Sayin at quarterback this year. In his redshirt freshman season, Sayin was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. While he didn't win it, he did show some incredible hope for Buckeye fans that he can be one of the greats at QB that the Buckeyes have ever seen.

Sayin wasn't able to recreate the regular season success he had in the postseason, as the Ohio State Buckeyes lost to IU and Miami in consecutive games. That was mostly due to the offensive line play. Still, he had one of the best seasons by any quarterback from any program in recent memory.

While Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman over Sayin, PFF actually graded Sayin as the higher quarterback. In fact, Sayin's season in 2025 was the best season that PFF has ever graded since they have been around, which has been since 2014.

Julian Sayin had best Ohio State season ever from a quarterback according to PFF

Sayin was given an accurate throw percentage of 74.2 percent during this past season. That is better than the new second-place finisher, who is former Buckeye quarterback Justin Fields. Fields had an accurate throw percentage of 72.4 percent during the 2020 season. Fields led the Buckeyes to the National Championship Game that season.

Ohio State football fans knew that Sayin was accurate all season long. He carved up TTUN with his accuracy in the final game of the regular season. Of course, Sayin had the benefit of throwing the ball to Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate. Tate will be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Smith will still be on the field for the Buckeyes next season, and Sayin should only be better. With him getting some offseason development and perhaps some help from an improved run game under Arthur Smith, the Buckeyes should once again be one of the top contenders to win it all in 2026.
