Every year, people outside the Big Ten are surprised by production from one Ohio State football player. To them, he comes out of nowhere. Of course, Ohio State fans know about these players and aren't surprised when they have a high level of production.

This year, there is one specific player who is poised for a massive jump in production because he finally has the opportunity to get the ball more. That player is wide receiver Carnell Tate. Tate now becomes the second receiver on the depth chart with Emeka Egbuka in the NFL.

Tate has been one of the most underrated players on the Buckeyes for a while. He was a former high four-star recruit and played a decent amount as a freshman. Now, he is going to have a shot to get the ball a lot more, especially with defenders paying so much attention to Jeremiah Smith.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new quarterback this season. It will likely be Julian Sayin, but no matter who it is, Tate will be a great security blanket to throw to. He gets in and out of his routes very quickly and is able to create separation with ease.

That's the kind of receiver who can really help a first-time starting quarterback. He has a great catch radius and can make really difficult catches. With most other programs, he would be their number-one receiver. Ohio State is just so loaded that he can't get to the top of the depth chart.

Tate is poised to have over 1,000 yards this season. It wouldn't be surprising to see him have double-digit touchdown catches, either. Brian Hartline is going to want to throw the ball around, and Tate is going to be a beneficiary of that.
