The Ohio State football program had Emeka Egbuka become the 12th first-round wide receiver in the modern draft era. That is the most of any college football program. Egbuka helped the Ohio State Buckeyes set that record when he was the 19th overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Buccaneers.

Egbuka is going to be a perfect fit with the Bucs with every other weapon that they have on that offense around him. He is going to be a really good fit as a rookie with a Tampa Bay team that was one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NFL a year ago.

Ohio State teammate Jeremiah Smith was happy with Egbuka getting drafted. He helped team up with Egbuka to win the national championship in 2024. Smith took to social media to show how happy he is with Egbuka getting drafted and where he ended up.

Smith gave Egbuka a message of encouragement on social media following the announcement of the pick.

Egbuka was a mentor for Smith during his true freshman season. He helped him become the best player in college football by the time the season was over, and they were very close as teammates. Smith is genuinely happy for him as he starts the next phase of his football career.

Smith will be joining Egbuka as a first-round pick in a couple of years, and he might be the first overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft if he continues to get better in each of his final two years with the Buckeyes. He will definitely be coming out of college early.

All of the current Buckeyes will be wishing Egbuka well as he starts his NFL journey with Tampa Bay. He's going to be a really good player for a long time in the NFL.
