Today is the last day of football for the year. It is Super Bowl LIX that showcases the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. It's the second time in the last few years that these two teams have faced each other, and it showcases the two best teams in the NFL.
Normally, this game has more than a few former Ohio State football players in it. There are Buckeyes all over the NFL, and they play at the highest level. This year, there is only one Buckeye who is on a roster, and he plays for the Eagles. That is former receiver Parris Campbell.
Campbell was a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Unfortunately, his career in Indy wasn't quite what he hoped it would be. He was beset by injuries, playing just 15 games in his first three years. He finally played a full season in 2022 but was released. Now, he's playing for the ultimate prize.
Former Ohio State football player Parris Campbell is playing for a Super Bowl
Last season, he played for the Giants. Now, he was brought in by Philly. Campbell actually contemplated retirement before being brought in by the Eagles. While he hasn't played much this season, he does have a touchdown for Philadelphia.
Campbell might not even be a big part of the gameplan in this game. If he is called upon, he will play his butt off and make sure that he can do whatever is necessary to make a winning play. He's extremely motivated to play the best football that he can in this final game.
What happens after this game for him is unclear. He doesn't have a contract for next year, so he's going to be a free agent. There's a chance that he ends up retiring after this game if he can't find a home. A big play in this game would open the door for another team offering him a deal.
Buckeye fans will likely be rooting for the Eagles to see Campbell walk away with a Super Bowl ring. He was a great player for Ohio State.
