The Ohio State football program has a lot of players who are making money through NIL. Everyone made a big deal about how the Buckeyes spent $20 million on NIL money for the national championship-winning team. That will become the new norm for almost every major college team.

One player deserves the money more than anyone else. That is receiver Jeremiah Smith. As a true freshman, he set pretty much every freshman receiving record at Ohio State. He also made the play that sealed the National Championship Game against Notre Dame.

While no one knows how much NIL money Smith is getting from the Ohio State Buckeyes, it's certainly substantial. Apparently, he's got even more money than a former NFL player in his bank account. Brandon Marshall, a former NFL receiver, showed that fact on social media.

Ohio State is paying Smith well because he has more money in his bank account than a former NFL wide receiver does.

Marshall made over $80 million in his NFL career. While most of his money is probably in different investments, it's still surprising to see Smith have more money in his back account than him. You would think that Marshall would still have a substantial amount of money in his account.

Smith stands to make even more money once he gets to the NFL. He could end up being the number-one pick in the NFL Draft when he decides to come out, which will likely be in 2027. If he is the top pick, he'll make the most money possible as a rookie.

Whatever amount of NIL money he's making right now, he has earned it. During the four-game run to the national championship, he was the best player the Buckeyes had. He is the ultimate weapon at the wide receiver position.

Other programs have tried to steal Smith by tampering with him, offering more money to leave Columbus. He has refused those advances and will continue to do so. He knows that staying with Ohio State gives him the best chance to succeed long-term in the NFL.
