The Ohio State football program had the best defense in the country by almost every statistical measurement last season. From the defensive line back into the secondary, the Buckeyes were loaded at almost every spot. That showed up during the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Ohio State Buckeyes had four players selected in the first round. After that, the second round had a few Ohio State players get taken, too. That includes back-to-back picks late in the second round, which saw Max Klare go to the LA Rams and Davison Igbinosun taken by the Bills.
Igbinosun was taken with the 62nd overall pick in the draft. After being the most penalized player in the country in 2024 when the Bucks won the national championship, he turned things around in 2025. He showed that he could be a true lockdown corner, and that's what Buffalo is counting on.
Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun taken in the second round
Igbinosun is one of the most physical cornerbacks in the draft. His ability to come up and make hits not just in coverage, but in the run game, will help the Bills. They need a defense that can get the ball to Josh Allen more often, and that's what this pick is all about.
It's a credit to the work that Igbinosun put in last offseason that he was able to improve as much as he did. He stopped holding receivers and started trusting his technique more. That trust allowed him to defend passes without committing penalties, something scouts needed to see.
Ohio State continues to dominate the draft. While most of the draft picks so far have been on the defensive side of the ball, they still had some offensive studs taken. Ohio State continues to have a recruiting highlight reel on display during this draft.
