The first two days of the 2026 NFL Draft have been chock-full of Ohio State football players realizing their dreams. In round one, the Ohio State Buckeyes saw four players taken in the first 11 picks. It was a great start to what has already become a fantastic draft weekend.
Kayden McDonald was the first Buckeye taken in the second round on Friday. He thought he was going to be a first-round pick. and went to the green room. He had to wait another day and was taken by the Texans. McDonald wasn't the only Buckeye taken in the second round, though.
Tight end Max Klare transferred in from Purdue to play one season with the Buckeyes. While his numbers weren't as prolific as they were with the Boilermakers, they were good enough to become a second-round pick, as the Los Angeles Rams took him with the 61st overall pick.
Ohio State tight end Max Klare earns second-round status with Rams selection
In his one season with the Buckeyes, Klare had 43 catches for 448 yards and four touchdowns. He will now join the Rams to be a weapon over the middle for Matthew Stafford and future starting quarterback Ty Simpson. He's also turned into a great blocker in the run game, as well.
Transferring to Ohio State clearly paid off for Klare, as he maximized his draft stock by making this move. He has a chance to be a really good player at the next level if Sean McVay can use him right. If there is any offensive coach in the NFL who should be able to, it's him.
McVay decided to beef up the offense again. Klare will head somewhere else besides the Midwest for the first time in his football life. That will be a bit of an adjustment for him.
