Ryan Day and the Ohio State football team have taken care of business against James Franklin and Penn State so much on the field, perhaps it's time to dominate them once again, but this time out on the recruiting trail. Folks, the Week 1 showdown with Texas at The Shoe just got more interesting.

On Friday, it has been reported by 247Sports that 5-star Penn State commit Kemon Spell will be in Columbus to watch the Buckeyes take on the Longhorns. Jones has been pledged to the Nittany Lions since August 2024, but other teams are working overtime to change his mind. The list of course includes the Buckeyes:

You've got to hand it to Day for this latest move. Ohio State vs. Texas is easily going to be the biggest and best game of opening weekend for college football. The stadium is going to be packed and the energy for all four quarters is going to be electric.

Spell is a 2027 prospect, meaning he's got well over a year before he puts the pen to paper for his Early Signing Period. This fall, Spell is planning on taking campus visits to Notre Dame on Sept. 13, Penn State on Sept. 27, Florida State on Oct. 4 and Alabama on Oct. 18.

Now, we know that he'll be taking his trip to Ohio State in late August. With Spell taking so many other visits, it feels like it's going to take a bit of a miracle for Franklin and the Nittany Lions to hang on - PSU fans must be worried they're going to miss out on this kid.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Spell is ranked five stars, the No. 1 running back in the country, No. 1 player from Pennsylvania and the No. 9 prospect nationally for the 2027 class. Ohio State will have the first crack to turn his head this season. Day sure picked the right weekend to get the superstar RB to town too.
