The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of only a handful of College Football programs standing on business for the spring games this March and April, televising the event for the world to see, prospective poaching scouts be damned.

Per The Next Round Live, not every team is willing to give a sneak peek into the product to those not in the stadium. The BYU Cougars, Colorado Buffaloes, Kentucky Wildcats, TTUN, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oregon Ducks, Syracuse Orange, Texas A&M Aggies, and Washington Huskies are the only teams scheduled to have spring games on TV.

Ohio State was one of the programs that chose not to cancel the game last year, with many programs citing a transfer portal with seemingly unlimited movement at the time as the reason why the game wasn't practical. The thought was that teams shouldn't advertise their players.

Luckily, Ryan Day was a proponent of the game last year.

Ryan Day at 2025 spring game: 'I'm glad we did this'

After the 2025 Ohio State Football Spring Game, Day was visibly satisfied with his team's decision to give Julian Sayin, Lincoln Kienholz, and Tavien St. Clair the chance to get somewhat live reps under center.

Day said "I'm glad we did this" to reporters after the game.

"...And so we'll use this as another evaluation tool because right from the jump from when we got off the bus to when we just finished there, I'm glad we did this. I'm glad we did the spring game," Day said.

"I wasn't sure, but it was definitely the right thing to do. I wish we could have stayed out there for another four hours and met these reps and get these guys to work."

If anything is recession-proof, it's the Ohio State Football Spring Game at the "Shoe." Nothing short of a global pandemic can take that away. Though in this global climate, maybe we shouldn't push that luck right now.
