The Ohio State football team finished off the 2025 regular season with a win over Michigan. It was the first time they had beaten TTUN since 2019. Ryan Day finally was able to beat them with his own players, something that he had failed to do throughout his career.
It was a dominating game from the Buckeyes, as they won 27-9. The Buckeyes were able to get a key touchdown from Jeremiah Smith in that game, and he has two touchdown catches in two games against TTUN. He finished that game with three catches for 40 yards and a touchdown while injured.
Smith ended up giving angry Michigan fans the bird after he scored that touchdown. It was something that fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes loved. He recently explained why he ended up doing that and what led him to consider that action.
Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith explains why he flipped off TTUN fans
Smith explained to the I AM ATHLETE Pod why he decided to flip the bird to the opposing fans.
"So all the Michigan fans are right there at the bottom. So we're out there, warming up, and they talking cash money, whatever they were saying. So I'm like, 'Okay, I'll score. I got something for them.' And then I scored, I ran up and, you know, flipped it off on them."
He was then asked what Ryan Day had to say about that once he got back to the sideline.
"They got on me a little bit, but really nothing crazy. When I made my profile picture, they were like, 'You can keep it up for a little bit, but you gotta take it down.'
Smith has already promised that he will be really great next season in what will likely be his final year with the program. The Buckeyes are hoping for him to have an all-time junior year as they try to win a national championship.
No one can accuse Smith of not caring about The Game.
