Ohio State spent nearly the entire regular season at the top of both the AP Top 25 and College Football Playoff rankings. The only thing they weren't was in Week 1 when they took down No. 1 Texas. The Buckeyes did not relinquish their spot until they suffered a loss in the Big Ten Championship to the Indiana Hoosiers.
Suddenly, since that loss, everyone seems to be either forgetting about or doubting Ohio State quite a bit. The loss was not ideal, but sometimes a loss can teach a team more than a win can. Just look at the Buckeyes, 2024 National Championship season.
At the College Football Playoff is officially here, The Athletic polled about two dozen college football coaches on many different questions. Who will win it all? Who is the biggest fraud? Will there be any upsets? However, there was one question asked that the answers to should shock Ohio State coaches.
Who do you think is the best coach in the Playoff?
Not a single coach said Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.
Most surprising response (by far) from our CFP Confidential: That of the two dozen coaches surveyed, not one named Ryan Day when asked who is the best coach in the Playoff field: https://t.co/yc6oa8YVqk

CFP voting disrespect should only fuel Ohio State head coach Ryan Day
Does Ryan Day really need to be told others think he is the best head coach in the College Football Playoff? Absolutely not, but the disrespect is definitely there. Day won it all just a year ago, and as mentioned earlier, the Buckeyes have dominated all season long, and now, suddenly, Day is being completely forgotten about.
Day has done a lot for this Ohio State program since taking over when Urban Meyer retired. He has brought a championship trophy back to Columbus, he has sent numerous players to the NFL, and he has shown that he can compete year in and year out.
While these other coaches in the playoffs are great, it is clear that Day is the best, and sometimes, when you are so good, it is easy to forget.
