A major topic of conversation not that long ago was whether or not Ohio State commit Brady Edmunds was going to stick with the Buckeyes or not. With nearby UCLA going all-in to flip the quarterback, Ryan Day was facing serious pressure in losing the stud QB. Thankfully, that didn't happen, and Edmunds is already making sensational history to start his senior year.
In his 2026 debut, the 6-5, 220-pounder put on a show for Huntington Beach High, tossing for 446 passing yards, which broke his school's single-game record. On top of that, he also threw six touchdowns on the night. If him putting up video game-type numbers is a sneak peak of what he'll get done in Columbus, everyone should be jacked up about his potential in the Big Ten. And more importantly, his playing days will be with Day, and not Bob Chesney:

Brady Edmunds is turning Ryan Day's recruiting scare into a recruiting victory lap
In early June in particular, countless Ohio State fans were ready to hit the panic button when Edmunds took his official visit to Westwood. Not long after that trip, he continued to leave the door open for a flip, with Chesney and his staff doing everything possible to get him to stay closer to home. This of course had Day concerned.
On June 19, however, Edmunds made his way to Columbus for yet another visit, this time with Ohio State understanding that the weekend trip could potentially make or break things for the Buckeyes. Thankfully, the red carpet was rolled out, Edmunds loved his meeting with Billy Fessner and Arthur Smith, while Day closed things out by painting a picture of what his future would look like at The Shoe.
All of that helped Edmunds shut down his recruitment once again, this time telling the Bruins thanks, but no thanks. Edmunds still has the rest of his senior campaign to get through, but then he'll make the move to Ohio State ranked four stars, and the No. 17 QB in the nation per the 247Sports rankings.
In addition to Ohio State and UCLA, Edmunds picked up offers from 21 other programs, including Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Oregon and others. With him throwing for well over 400 yards in a game too, it only adds to his hype before making the jump to the college game. Edmunds also prevented Ohio State from having to scramble for its 2027 QB plans, as reports surfaced Day was ready to potentially go after Nebraska commit Trae Taylor if Edmunds gave him some bad news.
Luckily for Day, and Matt Rhule to be quite honest, Edmunds has stood true to his word, being locked in with Ohio State for the long haul. He's going to have to wait his turn to take over the offense for Day and Smith, but once he's given his shot down the road, fans are feeling pretty dang confident that he'll be able to light up the field with the ball in his hands. Let's see if more head-turning games are on the way for him this fall too.
