As the rest of the Spring unfolds, the Ohio State football team is focusing on improving its recruiting class for 2027. Most of their recruits at this point are on the offensive line. They have just 11 commits to the class, and five of them are up front. They still have a lot of work to do.
Ryan Day still has plenty of positions that he wants to get addressed in the next few months. They have just the fifth-ranked class in the country at this point because their overall numbers are so low. Quarterback is one of those positions, although they have Brady Edmunds still committed.
Usually, Day only brings in one quarterback in a high school recruiting class. That might change in 2027 since Lincoln Kienholz transferred out, and Julian Sayin could be a first-round pick next season. On Friday, they will find out whether or not they will land a second QB in this class.
Ohio State football team will learn the fate of four-star QB recruit
Four-star recruit Wonderful Monds IV will be committing live on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday afternoon. Monds IV is from Vero Beach, Florida. He will be choosing between Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Florida State. Right now, he is projected to head to Notre Dame.
It's unlikely that the Ohio State Buckeyes will end up landing Monds IV, although he does have a great name. Day seems pretty content with Edmunds being his quarterback for the 2027 class. He might be a better fit with what Marcus Freeman likes to do with his offense, anyway.
The Buckeyes will likely earn more commitments from recruits when the summer rolls around, and kids start attending recruiting camps. That is when Ohio State's coaching staff gets a better look at them. Until then, expect recruiting to be a bit slow.
Day might also be changing his philosophy a bit by prioritizing the Transfer Portal at the end of the season after the success that he had in 2024 with that, as well as Indiana's usage of it.
