The Ohio State football team could have won the national championship last year if it had gotten some better play from the quarterback position. Julian Sayin struggled in the final two games of the season, playing his worst two games. In the Cotton Bowl against Miami, he ended up throwing a pick-six.

After that pic-six in the first half, the Buckeyes never really had a chance to come back to win the game. Sayin is using that experience as a learning moment. He has spent a lot of the offseason getting better at scrambling and using his legs to gain key yards when needed.

Sayin was a Heisman Finalist last season, and he should be even better this season. He enters the 2026 season as one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He is now going to show off his skills at one of the premier spots in the country for quarterbacks.

Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin to attend the Manning Passing Academy

This summer, Sayin will be at the Manning Passing Academy. He will have an opportunity to go against some of the best quarterbacks in the country, while also getting to learn from some Hall of Fame players. Peyton and Eli Manning always attend this camp.

Of course, Sayin isn't the only really good college quarterback attending the academy. Another Manning will be there, as well. Arch Manning will attend, and that is a quarterback that Sayin has seen lose to the Ohio State Buckeyes in each of the last two seasons.

Being able to learn from some of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game is a great opportunity for Sayin. He also gets to teach some high school players, as well. It should be a great experience for him as he enters his second year as a starter, and potentially his final year in college.

Ohio State can win the national championship with better play from Sayin

This year, the Ohio State offense is good enough to win it all. They return four starters up front on the offensive line, and they still have the best receiver in the country in Jeremiah Smith. Smith might be the best returning player in all of college football. Sayin is the one who helps put it all together.

If he stops being afraid to pick up easy yards with his legs, he will become a much more dangerous player. Ohio State will be able to make more third-down conversions, and they should be a much tougher team to beat in the College Football Playoff. That is what is at stake this season.

Sayin has the opportunity to help the Buckeyes win a national championship this season. If he steps up his game even a little bit, the Buckeyes could be celebrating their second national title in three years. He has the chance to be the best quarterback in the country.

A nice performance at the Manning Academy should give him some confidence heading into the season.
