Even though the 2025 season is in full swing and coaches are focusing more and more on getting their team to the College Football Playoff and a National Championship, recruiting is still a priority. Right now, it is all about securing 2026 recruits and starting to lure in 2027 recruits. For Ohio State, Ryan Day already has three commits in the Class of 2027 and is looking for more.

Five-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman, who de-committed from Oregon about a month and a half ago, has officially announced his 10 finalists, and Ohio State made the cut. Bowman is the No. 25 player in the Class of 2027, the No. 5 wide receiver in the class, and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee, all according to 247Sports.

The interesting part of Bowman's list is that he lists Oregon as one of his finalists, even though he de-committed from the Ducks already.

Either way, Ohio State is battling a number of other big schools for this top wide receiver recruit. The Buckeyes are trying to beat out Miami, Vanderbilt, USC, Texas A&M, Alabama, Texas, LSU, Tennessee, and Oregon for a commitment from Bowman.

Getting a commitment from Bowman would be huge for Day and the Buckeyes, as in 2027, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith could be heading to the NFL, and Ohio State will be looking for a new WR1. Bowman could certainly step into that role, but if Smith is still around, that is still great for a young player like himself to learn from one of the top players in college football.

Ohio State has yet to get a wide receiver in the Class of 2027, but Day has received a commitment from four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds, who could be throwing the ball to Bowman by that time
