The Ohio State football team is getting ready to integrate the 2026 recruiting class ahead of spring football. It was the lowest-ranked recruiting class that Ryan Day has had since his first year as the head coach of the Buckeyes, which was a transition year between him and Urban Meyer.
Now, the Ohio State Buckeyes have turned their attention to the 2027 recruiting class. They have already landed the top recruit in that class, as they try to land one of the best classes in the country. Now that they have an offensive coordinator, they can start to effectively recruit that side of the ball.
While it's very early in the recruiting cycle, the Buckeyes are already early favorites for the best running back in the 2027 recruiting class. Steve Wiltfong of Rivals believes that Ohio State is one of the favorites to land David Gabriel Georges.
Ohio State football team predicted to land five-star running back recruit
Wiltfong made it clear that Ohio State is the early team to beat.
"I have an early Rivals prediction forecast in favor of Ohio State for David Gabriel Georges, and I still like where I stand on that prediction...no program has a better relationship with David Gabriel Georges than Carlos Locklyn, the running backs coach.
Wiltfong did mention that Tennessee and Georgia are the other two main threats to the Buckeyes at this point. There is still plenty of time between now and when he will need to sign, so Ohio State has a lot of work to do in order to lock up a commitment from him.
Even landing a commitment from him won't be enough. The Buckeyes still have to sign him once Signing Day rolls around in December, which is when Ohio State usually signs its recruits. Still, this is a good sign for them to land a truly great recruit at the running back spot.
