The buzz surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers remains sky-high. Over the weekend, Mike Tomlin and the AFC North side made a lot of Ohio State football fans happy after they selected both quarterback Will Howard and standout pass-rusher Jack Sawyer.
Sawyer and Howard together again? You better believe it. The news keeps on getting better for Sawyer, though, as Tomlin revealed that he consulted with Ohio State great Cam Heyward about him potentially joining the Steelers defense.
Not only that, but Sawyer said that Heyward already reached out to him about suiting up together in Pittsburgh. So, not only is Sawyer going to be coached up by a legend in Tomlin, but he'll also have another Buckeye in his corner ready to show him the ropes? That's incredible:
Cam Heyward is ready to take Jack Sawyer under his wing with the Steelers
No one in Columbus has forgotten about what Heyward was able to get done with the Buckeyes during his college career. The standout defensive lineman was a four-year difference-maker for Ohio State, leading to him being a first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Heyward has spent the past 14 years with Pittsburgh and he's getting ready for Year 15 with the organization. It's wild that he's been in town for so long, but he's a Steeler through and through and now he's ready to help bring Sawyer along.
Sawyer will always be a fan favorite, as he wrapped his awesome OSU career up in the best way possible this past season. He helped the Buckeyes win the National Championship Game, with his electric play in the semifinal against Texas something that's going to be shown throughout the rest of time. It was easily one of the best plays in program history.
Sawyer will now pack his bags and get ready for this new, exciting chapter of his life. It's one thing that he's going to have Howard along for the journey, but knowing Heyward is going to take care of him too has got to be a special feeling for the youngster.
