The Ohio State football team has done a very good job of being able to flip recruits late in this 2026 recruiting cycle. It seems like the last few weeks, they have been steadily adding recruits to help fill out their class. With just a few weeks left in the cycle, the Buckeyes now have the sixth-best class.
They added to that class on Sunday by flipping another recruit. This time, it was three-star tight end Nick Lautar. Lautar, who is from Lebanon, Ohio, flipped his commitment from Louisville. Adding him to the fold gives the Buckeyes another offensive weapon and the first tight end in the class.
Adding Lautar gives the Ohio State Buckeyes their 27th recruit for this class, which is a very full class. The Buckeyes aren't done adding kids, either. They have established themselves as the premier flipping program in the country after doing what they've done in the last few weeks.
The Ohio State football team will flip more recruits soon
Lautar isn't going to be the last recruit Ohio State flips. They are now predicted to add a few more players on the defensive end of the field, and they could add some of those players as soon as this week. Ryan Day and his staff have been on fire on the recruiting trail.
The question is, why has this started to happen? Have the Buckeyes started spending more in NIL money? Or have other schools started running out of money, allowing Ohio State to jump in and grab some of these recruits? The answer is likely a combination of both.
Ross Bjork seems to be giving more money to some of these recruits, while other schools might have gotten a little too lax with the money they were throwing around. Either way, the Buckeyes seem to be the beneficiary of what is going on.
