Ohio State has 2 relatable recruiters working to sway David Gabriel Georges

Ohio State is whipping out the big guns to land David Gabriel Georges over Tennessee and Ole Miss.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are not messing around when it comes to 5-star Baylor (TN) running back David Gabriel Geoges. With the Tennessee Volunteers getting aggressive to keep DGG in the Volunteer State, with Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam potentially even helping the cause, there is a legitimate competition for the freakish backfield threat. Even the Ole Miss Rebels have emerged as an option after Gabriel Georges in mid-June.

Ohio State offered Baylor safety Jordan Darren Djila Tchuisseu, DGG's teammate, something Tennessee and Ole Miss didn't do before the Buckeyes. Meanwhile, OSU is also doing something neither of those classes can: offering the recruitment efforts of the No. 1 and No. 32 players in the 2027 class, 5-star Blessed Trinity Catholic DJ Jacobs and 5-star Big Walnut receiver Jamier Brown,

"There is still confidence on Ohio State’s side, though there are concerns about how strong Tennessee has pushed in a myriad of different ways the last few weeks. Five-star pledges in the class, defensive end David “DJ” Jacobs and receiver Jamier Brown, have both been in contact with Gabriel-Georges in an attempt to help sway him into the class," Cleveland.com's Andrew Gillis wrote.

Hearing from Jacobs and Brown has to move the needle, especially because both the Vols and Rebels don't have a top-80 recruit yet. 4-star Brentwood Academy (TN) WR Kesean Bowman is Tennessee's highest at No. 81 in the class, while 4-star Choctaw County (MS) DL Ben'Jarvius Shumaker is Ole Miss's highest. While star ratings won't dictate these players' careers, the reputation heading into college could sway fellow recruits. DGG is the highest-ranked recruit who's yet to commit to a school.

Ohio State could have a generational RB room in 2027 and beyond

With Legend Bey entering his second year and potentially Bo Jackson and Isaiah West entering their third year in 2027, a DGG addition would make the Buckeyes' RB room a once-in-a-generation assortment of talent.

You figure at least one of the aforementioned guys makes a move elsewhere, but even still, this would be a historic room with Gabriel Georges. Can the Chattanooga product truly say that what Josh Heupel or John David Baker is offering in Knoxville or Oxford comes anywhere close to being in an NFL offense playing for former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith?

Playing for the Ohio State University could pay off in the long run, even if the upfront down payment isn't as robust. And on that point, if the Buckeyes really want DGG, they're in a different weight class than the Rebels and Volunteers. Sure, Tennessee may throw money around all of its athletics programs, but what have been the returns so far?

Smith could find creative ways to get Bey the ball by going a more traditional workhorse back route with DGG. Depending on Jackson and West's status, no one could be overworked next season. Fresh backs could continuously terrorize the Big Ten.

DGG could potentially find more money elsewhere, but he could be part of something truly special in Cbus if he embraces the opportunity.
