The Ohio State Buckeyes have been preparing for the last two weeks for this game against USC. They have known that Luke Fahey was going to start this game, and they have worked hard to get him ready. It will be a tough environment for him to go into and get a win in his first start.

Of course, every time the Buckeyes play a high-profile game, Desmond Howard is there to try to put the Buckeyes down. He did that when College GameDay was at Iowa. He did it again against the Hoosiers. Once more, Howard is going against Ohio State, and that is good news.

Desmond Howard is the only person to pick against Ohio State on College GameDay

Whenever Howard picks against the Buckeyes, Ohio State tends to play well. The only time he picked against them and Ohio State actually lost was against Texas. That was an all-time collapse, but the team has clearly rallied since that game. Howard picking against Ohio State is good news for them as they face the Trojans.

It wasn't surprising to see Howard be the only person on the panel to pick Ohio State to lose. Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit, and guest picker Isiah Thomas all picked the Buckeyes. Howard was the only one to go against the grain and pick the Trojans.

This is the first start for Luke Fahey. Fahey is a true freshman and was only a three-star recruit, so it's not crazy to think that he would lose this game. If anyone else picked USC to win the game, it would be seen as decent analysis. Instead, it's just Howard being his normal, troll self.

Ohio State has a chance to silence all of the doubters across the country

A win at night on the road with a backup quarterback would be a great way to silence all of the haters around the country. Fahey doesn't have to do it all himself, either. They can rely on the defense to help them win this game, especially with the poor offensive effort USC had last week at Wisconsin.

Protecting the football and letting his run game help him is the best way for Fahey to walk out of Los Angeles with a victory. Ohio State has really settled in on defense, too. While they might be without Jay Timmons, they have enough other guys in the secondary to deal with Jayden Maiava.

Ohio State has had two full weeks to prepare for this game. That preparation should see Fahey have success early in the game when the drives are scripted. The questions come after that. Will he still be able to make enough plays for Ohio State to win the game?

I think he will. It helps that Jeremiah Smith is on his team, too. Just get the ball to him, and things will work out just fine. Howard seems to forget that Ohio State has more talent than almost every team they face. Perhaps he does and just doesn't care. He just likes trolling.
