This spring, the Ohio State football program has 51 new players on the roster. Ryan Day is trying to figure out roles for all of them, as well as a way for the starters who are returning to improve on last year. Yet, injuries have made that a little tough for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The top two running backs on the depth chart are going to miss all of spring with injuries. Austin Siereveld and Phillip Daniels are also now out for the rest of spring after undergoing surgery. Yet, those injuries have opened up opportunities for players further down the depth chart.
Legend Bey has been one of the players who has benefited from increased snaps. The true freshman has been the talk of the spring from the media and the coaches. Now, players are starting to take notice, even those who are ahead of Bey on the depth chart in the running back room.
Ohio State running back Bo Jackson has some major praise for freshman Legend Bey
While speaking to the media on Friday, Jackson said that he has been very impressed with what he's seen from Bey so far.
“Somebody that caught my eye really fast was Legend Bey. He came in here immediately, making plays since the first day of spring.”
Jackson isn't the only running back taking notice of Bey. Isaiah West, who is Jackson's backup, also had some nice things to say about the true freshman.
“Extremely talented. I’m excited to see what he does this year.”

West said Bey has things to work on this offseason, but “make no mistake, he’s gonna be great.” He said Bey’s explosiveness has stood out to him. “Boy is fast. Boy can run.”
At this point, it looks like Bey might be taking some snaps from Jackson and West this season. Ryan Day is going to find a way to get him on the field, even if it's at receiver. Bey was a high school quarterback, but the Buckeyes recruited him as a running back.
After a wild recruitment, Bey seems very pleased to be in Columbus. He seems to be making the most of the opportunities he's given, which could pave the way for him to get some serious playing time this year. Of course, the Buckeyes have some talented players ahead of him, too.
Fans are going to get their first look at Bey in the Spring Game next weekend, and they should be excited. He is going to make sure that he puts on a show when he gets on the field. Not many true freshmen see the field for Ohio State.
