The Ohio State football team is taking on Texas for the right to play in the national championship. The Buckeyes have looked like the best team in college football so far in the CFP. Meanwhile, Texas has shown to be one of the most talented teams in the country.

Ohio State has crushed Tennessee and Oregon in the first two rounds. Neither of the games were close at any point. A big reason for that has been Jack Sawyer and the Ohio State defense has completely shut down the opposing offenses. The Longhorns can run the ball better than either of those two teams, though.

The Ohio State Buckeyes opened up as 5.5-point favorites and the line quickly went to 6.5. As of now, it sits at six. The over/under for this game is 53.5, which the over hit in both the Rose Bowl and in the first-round matchup against Tennessee.

Ohio State football vs. Texas: Cotton Bowl final prediction

Texas has athletes all over the field. The issue is that they don't have the athletes in the right positions. They don't have anyone on the field who can cover Jeremiah Smith. Smith is going to be the best player on the field yet again and should dominate this game.

Prediction: Ohio State football 35 Texas 17

This is the prediction that has stuck in my mind all week. I don't see how Texas is going to be able to score enough points to keep up with the Buckeyes. Ohio State's defense has been elite since the regular season matchup with the Oregon Ducks. No one has been able to solve them.

Quinn Ewers has been shaky all year. It wouldn't make sense for him to stop that against his elite defense. Expect the Buckeyes to pull away and advance to the National Championship Game in Atlanta.
