The Ohio State football team finally gets a break this week. They get to host a terrible Purdue team the week after a highly emotional win at Penn State. They are the perfect opponent to play after such a hard-fought win. The Penn State game included a lot of chatter around the team and it was emotionally taxing for them.

In comes one of the worst, if not the worst, teams in the country. The Boilermakers don't have a single win over an FBS opponent this season. The lone win they have is over Indiana State. That offensive output was fools-gold because they have only scored 49 points again one time, and it was a loss.

There is a huge disparity in talent between these two teams. I would expect to see the backups get a lot of snaps in this game for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The only question that remains is if the Buckeyes can cover what is the biggest spread they've had this season.

Ohio State football vs. Purdue final odds and final prediction

According to DraftKings, the Buckeyes are 38-point favorites. That's slightly down from where it opened. It was initially 38.5, which is also very high. The over/under for the game sits at 53.5. Quite frankly, I'm surprised the oddsmakers have it built in that Purdue will score any points at all.

Prediction: Ohio State football 52 Purdue 3

This is the worst team the Buckeyes have played since they took on Marshall, and the Thundering Herd might be better. Ohio State is so much better than the Boilermakers. I think the Buckeyes score 38 points in the first half when their starters are out there.

The backups should be able to add another 14 points after they play the majority of the second half. This is a game that can help build depth for the future and should give us an extended look at both Devin Brown and Julian Sayin at the quarterback position.
