Ohio State football: TTUN has already started overhyping their freshman QB

The Ohio State football team will have a new quarterback. So will Michigan. Only one of those players will actually be ready, and it won't be Michigan's.

Very few true freshmen quarterbacks come into the Big Ten and have immediate success. That's why there aren't many universities that start true freshmen right away. It's why the Ohio State football team hasn't had a true freshman start the opening game since the 1980s.

Yet, some other teams decide that's their best course of action. Dylan Raiola did it at Nebraska, and the Buckeyes shut him down. Quite frankly, not everyone has the luxury of multiple five-star quarterbacks being on the roster like the Ohio State Buckeyes do.

It seems that TTUN is leaning towards starting their true freshman quarterback, Bryce Underwood. While Underwood was the number-one overall recruit in the country, starting him immediately is likely going to backfire for the Wolverines. TTUN fans don't care and have already started overhyping him.

Now that TTUN was able to buy Underwood away from LSU, fans have already started claiming that he is going to be the best quarterback in the Big Ten soon. Even absurd X accounts have started using him to take part in engagement farming. That's how bad this hype has become.

Underwood may very well turn out to be a good quarterback. The rivalry between him and Tavien St. Clair is going to be very interesting. But there is no reason that someone who has never taken a snap in college should be getting this much hype, especially if he's going to be leading a team as untalented as TTUN.

The Buckeyes have lost to TTUN in each of the last three matchups, so they can't talk a lot of smack. This year is likely the year that they break the curse, coming off of a national championship. Ohio State has to feel even better about that if they trot out a true freshman against their defense.

Ohio State has the second-best quarterback from this class in St. Clair. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to see him see the field in comparison to Underwood, as TTUN is clearly desperate for better QB play.
