The Ohio State football program is gearing up for the upcoming season. After a solid, although uninspiring, spring game, the Buckeyes are almost ready to start Fall camp. Next month is when practice will get underway. That is when they will formally name the starters for the year.
Heading into 2026, the Buckeyes will have a lot of leaders on the offensive side of the ball. They could be the best offense in college football. At least, EA Sports thinks so. With Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith leading the way, the Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to have an explosive offense.
Pretty soon, the Buckeyes will be speaking at Big Ten Media Days. That will be the first time that the media and the fans will get to hear from the players since the spring ended. The Buckeyes have now revealed who will be the player representatives, and it's some leaders who could be captains.
Ohio State football team reveals three team representatives for Big Ten Media Days
Quarterback Julian Sayin will be one of the representatives speaking. He will be starting for Ohio State for the second year in a row. This will likely be the last year that he ends up playing in Columbus, as he will likely be a first-round pick next season because of how well he will play in 2026.
Jeremiah Smith is another player who will speak. This will be his last year he will be in Columbus, as well. He will definitely be a first-round pick next season, as he might be the best receiver in college football. He is the biggest weapon that Ohio State has on offense.
Defensively, the Buckeyes are also sending Jaylen McClain. He started at safety opposite of Caleb Downs last year, and he will man that spot again. McClain was part of a defense that had the best defense in the country last year. He is hoping to put up those kinds of numbers again.
Expect to hear a motivated Ohio State team during Media Day
After Ohio State lost in the Cotton Bowl, the team immediately started plotting to be better in 2026. They still have some spots that they need to improve in order to make that happen, but expect all of these players to sound motivated and ready to go this season.
The Buckeyes are ready to get back to work. They want to win two national championships in three years. Winning another title would also give the Big Ten four straight national titles. That would further cement the Big Ten as the superior conference in the country.
Of course, Ohio State doesn't care about other Big Ten teams winning a title. They only care about themselves getting a chance to win it all. Ohio State is clearly one of the most talented teams in the country. These players will get a chance to talk about that soon.
Big Ten Media Days will take place over three days, July 28-30, in Chicago.
