The Ohio State football team lost to Oregon two weeks ago. They have spent the last couple of weeks trying to fix what ailed them in that game. The defense was the biggest problem. The Buckeyes allowed almost 500 yards of offense and allowed the Ducks to score 32 points.
During that game, there were some recruits who were at that game who were considering both the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon. Jahkeem Stewart, one of the best defensive ends in the country, was one of those recruits. He's considering both schools and was in attendance at that game.
Another recruit just de-committed from Georgia and has both Ohio State and Oregon on his list. That player is 2026 quarterback Jared Curtis. Curtis has a few other schools on his list. USC, South Carolina, Clemson, and Alabama are also on his list. One school has the lead after that Ohio State/Oregon game though.
The Ohio State football team is not in the lead for top 2026 QB recruit
Following the loss to Oregon, the Buckeyes have fallen behind the Ducks in landing Curtis. According to Hayes Fawcett of ON3, the Ducks have moved into the lead for Curtis. This follows Oregon beating Ohio State and then crushing Purdue.
Losing the game is bad enough for the Buckeyes. Losing a recruit in addition to the game would be even worse. Curtis is one of the best recruits in the country for a reason. Ohio State would love to have Curtis on the roster. Ryan Day has a history of recruiting some great quarterbacks.
It's just one game, but the Buckeyes need to make sure that loss doesn't snowball into losing more. The Ohio State football team still has the best recruiting class in the country for 2025. They will have to work hard to keep that the case.
