The Ohio State football team has really started to ramp up its recruiting efforts in the last few days. With the Spring Game right around the corner. They will have plenty of recruits on campus for that game, which will be more of a traditional Spring Game than initially thought.

On the recruiting front, Tyler Bowen has come in and worked the trail very hard. He has wasted no time sending out offers to offensive linemen across the country. He has already been able to secure two recruits up front from the state of Ohio, both four-star recruits.

On Wednesday, the Buckeyes added a third offensive lineman to the 2026 recruiting class. Tucker Smith becomes the seventh member of the class as a whole. Smith is a three-star offensive lineman, becoming the lowest-ranked recruit that Bowen has landed thus far.

Ohio State football program gets a commitment from Tucker Smith

Smith is a three-star offensive lineman from Glendale, Arizona. He becomes the first offensive lineman from outside the state of Ohio to commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2026 class. He stands at 6'5 and 280 pounds, and he had offers from several big programs.

Arkansas, Iowa State, Arizona, and Kansas State were just some of the schools that were hoping to land him. Instead, he chose the Buckeyes. Bowen is making sure that the Buckeyes have more depth up front than they have in the last few years. That has been an issue.

Bowen is still hoping to get some more higher-ranked recruits later on. They don't have any five-star recruits on the offensive line, although they have been trying to bring Jackson Cantwell to Ohio State. That doesn't seem promising at this point, though.

The Ohio State football program will keep attacking the recruiting trail as the Spring goes along. This summer is when recruiting will really become a hot topic, but adding Smith is good. While he might not play until his senior season, he gives the Buckeyes more bodies in case of an injury.
