Ohio State has already added two much-needed offensive tackles from the transfer portal. Now, they’re heavily pursuing the top remaining player at that position.

On Tuesday, following his team’s loss in the FCS title game the night before, Montana State’s Conner Moore announced he was entering the transfer portal and became an Ohio State target immediately. He played football at Lake High School in Milbury, Ohio (near Toledo), before spending three seasons with the Bobcats. Moore visited Cincinnati on Wednesday and will be in Columbus on Saturday. He will visit Michigan State as well.

The 6’5”, 310-pound Moore is versatile. After redshirting in 2022, he started every game at left tackle in 2023 for the Bobcats. He began this season at guard before switching to left tackle and was named first-team All-Big Sky Conference as well as second-team All-America. If he chooses to join the Buckeyes, I don’t doubt Moore will be in the battle to be the starter at left tackle. But I like that he can also slide inside and give quality reps at guard as well.

According to Bucknuts’ recruiting expert Bill Kurelic, Moore generated plenty of interest from schools in the south when he entered the portal. But he has made it clear he wants to come back and be somewhere near his home area.

As of right now, he has just those three visits planned, but a fourth visit is not out of the question. Kurelic is not yet ready to put in a Crystal Ball prediction for Moore to join Ohio State, but he said he would not bet against the Buckeyes getting him. If they do land him, it would add to an already impressive haul from the portal.

Moore is a redshirt junior who will have two years of eligibility remaining. He would fit in great with the Ohio State football program.
